Dehradun Public School (DPS)

Dehradun Public School (DPS) is in the Kandoli area and is a community based project, in North India. It is a purpose built school for children from socially and economically deprived homes. Many children are the first generation to go to school. 

Most of the homes have just one room, and range from mud structures with grass roof to solid cement and brick. Some families may have electricity, water and sanitation but very few have all 3.

Sponsorship here means the child has a good education as well as receiving a meal daily as a reward for going to school, an added incentive for the parents to encourage education too.
